Mercedes-Benz Vision Concept Cargo Van Use Drones

Mercedes-Benz Vision Concept Cargo Van will use Drones to Deliver Packages.  Mercedes described the van as the first “to feature a fully automated cargo space and integrated delivery drones.”

Volker Mornhinweg, director of Daimler’s Mercedes-Benz Vans division said “This makes it easier for the deliverer to do business and rapidly reduces the delivery time for end customers,”

The operator will use a joystick to guide the van. It will drive by a wire control system integrator and will be emission, steering wheel, and pedal free.

The all electric powertrain and motor will produces 75 kilowatts, or 100 horsepower, and will go about 50 mph. The Mercedes-Benz Vision Cargo moves almost silently, this allows the van to operate in cities with traffic restrictions or for late-night deliveries in residential areas.

Vision Mercedes Maybach 6

If you’re in the Pebble Beach universe this weekend check out the Vision Mercedes Maybach 6.

The latest super-coupe is more than 18.5 feet long, 550 kW (738 hp) from an underfloor battery, and four electric motors. The all-wheel-drive coupe theoretically hits 62 mph in less than 4 seconds, has a top speed electronically governed at 155 mph and should be good for more than a 200-mile range.

The Maybach’s huge wheels (24s), long hood, slim headlights, low roof and massive chrome grille (inspired by a pinstripe suit, Benz says) dominate the front end.

Safaricom Launches Little Cab App

Safaricom Launches Little Cab App

Safaricom a leading Kenyan mobile telecom firm launches an online ride-hail app, Little Cab.  Safaricom will provide free internet to all Little Cab drivers.  All drivers will also receive free Samsung smartphones.

Little Cab app was developed by a Nairobi based software company, Craft Silicon.

Other e-riding platforms in Kenya are: Uber who launched at the beginning of last year,  Dubai owned MondoRide, Estonian, Taxify and other startups..

Safaricom chief executive officer (CEO) Bob Collymore says Little Cab will be a cheaper alternative with more benefits for riders. Little Cab riders will not have  price surge pricing.  The service will be simple, easy, and transparent

Little Cab runs on iOS, Android, and Windows devices and will soon be available for USSD (non-smartphone) users. The new app accepts cash, card, and Safaricom’s M-Pesa mobile money for payment. It provides live GPS enabled maps for pickups and offers free Wi-Fi to passengers.

DRU – Domino’s Robotic Unit

Domino’s Pizza unveiled DRU. DRU – Domino’s Robotic Unit, the world’s first autonomous pizza delivery vehicle.

DRU is a four wheeled vehicle with compartments built to keep the customer’s order piping hot and drinks cold while traveling on the footpath at a safe speed from the store to the customer’s door. DRU is currently able to navigate from a starting point to his destination, selecting the best path of travel. His on-board sensors enable him to perceive obstacles along the way and avoid them if necessary.

Domino confirmed that the prototype came from within their internal innovation sessions and has been developed within Domino’s own DLAB. Domino’s collaborated with Australian startup Marathon Robotics on the project.
