EA announced that it will be shutting down 3 Facebook games. The Sims Social, SimCity Social, and Pet Society will go offline on June 14.
EA released the following statement, ” Today we are informing players of the difficult decision to retire some of our Facebook games: The Sims Social, SimCity Social and Pet Society. After millions of people initially logged in to play these games, the number of players and amount of activity has fallen off. For people who have seen other recent shutdowns of social games, perhaps this is not surprising. EA will continue to deliver popular titles for Facebook, most notably games from PopCap, including Bejeweled Blitz, Solitaire Blitz and the recently-announced Plants vs. Zombies Adventures.”
Sony sold 70 million PS3 consoles in 6 years. PS3 debuted Nov 11, 2006. In 6 years Sony also sold 15 Million Move Controllers, 3,950 game titles, 595 million copies of the game titles, 170,000 downloads, and 57,000 downloadable games.
PS3 sells are substantially lowers that PS2. In the same 6 year span Sony sold more than 103 million consoles and sells currently exceeds 150 million. The PS2 is currently being phased out of production.
Halo 4 launched November 6. The first day of Halo sales tops $200 Million worldwide. The Halo franchise lifetime sales is over $3.38 Billion. According to Forbes sales have reached $300 Million since its launch.
Halo 4 is the 7th installment of the first-person shooter game in the best-selling Halo franchise.
Effective immediately Microsoft reduced the price of the Xbox Kinect from $149.99 to $99.99. The price will be permanently reduced from $149.99 to $109.99 in North America, Latin America, and Asia Pacific. The price will be reduced in Australia and New Zealand on October 4.
