EA Shuts Down Facebook Games

EA announced that it will be shutting down 3 Facebook games.  The Sims Social, SimCity Social, and Pet Society will go offline on June 14.

EA released the following statement, ” Today we are informing players of the difficult decision to retire some of our Facebook games: The Sims Social, SimCity Social and Pet Society. After millions of people initially logged in to play these games, the number of players and amount of activity has fallen off. For people who have seen other recent shutdowns of social games, perhaps this is not surprising. EA will continue to deliver popular titles for Facebook, most notably games from PopCap, including Bejeweled Blitz, Solitaire Blitz and the recently-announced Plants vs. Zombies Adventures.”

Instagram Reach 90+ Million Users

Instagram reach 90+ million users; 40 million pictures are also updated daily.

Co-Founder Kevin Systrom said, “Instagram continues to see very strong growth around the world with many of the product and internationalization improvement we’ve made, we’ve been excited to see these efforts resonate with users globally.”

Instragram was acquired by facebook for $1 Billion in cash and stock on April 12, 2012.

Facebook Restores New Years Delivery Message

Earlier today a privacy flaw on Facebook New Years Delivery Message was discovered by IT student Jack Jenkins. Facebook took the New Years Delivery Service off line today to fix the privacy flaw.

Facebook Midnight Message Delivery enables its 1 billion+ users to wish friends a Happy New Year with a private message, the message will be delivered to their Facebook inbox at midnight tonight December 31.
