Verizon is prepared to pay Clearwire up to $1.5 billion to lease part of its spectrum. This move would give Verizon the right to use airwaves in large U.S. markets.
Earlier today, Dish Network announced a bid to acquire Sprint for $25.5 billion, $17.3 billion cash and $8.2 stock. Sprint shareholders would receive $7 per share. Sprint acquired 50.8% stake in Clearwire last October.
